Kaye Reacts To Stuff
1. My Comparative Politics professor calling me Kane - Mountains out of molehills maybe, but it really, really bugs me. As in I was so bugged about it that I'm still thinking about it 24 hours later. I just...don't get it. Because for all intents and purposes, Kaye is a really easy name to remember. It's not extremely common like say Bea or Pat, but not so unusual that you run the risk of mispronouncing it. And I like to think that as a person, I am not particularly forgettable, especially since I am prone to classroom snarkiness. Then I realized that it's not that he was forgetting. He was purposely associating me with the name Kane and that's just fucked up. It may make more sense to you but it doesn't make sense to me at all.
I think he's scared of me now because I've bitched at him twice already. Or if not scared, annoyed. Every time I raise my hand to recite, he's always, "What's your name?" and I go, "Kaye, sir." and he goes, "Ah, yeah Kane." and I'm like, "NO SIR, IT'S KAYE." With matching tone of impatience in my voice. And one time he responded with, "But Kane--" and I full-on interrupted him with matching death glare and said, "No sir. It's KAYE," while adding expletives in my head. Please tell me I'm not overreacting and that my annoyance is at the very least valid.
2. My Comparative Politics classmates in general - We spent half an hour comparing apples and oranges, and zebras and horses just so we could explain what 'comparative' meant. Insert appropriate face!palm picture here
4. Comelec says gay party 'immoral' - long story short, the Commission on Elections recently rejected Ang Ladlad's request for party-list accreditation for the reasons of 'sexual immorality and immoral doctrines.' Ang Ladlad is an organization of LGBTs. Supposedly, gay people are a threat to the Filipino youth.
WHAT THE FUCKITY FUCK? And I thought your fail could not get any bigger, Comelec. The only threat to the Filipino youth is idiocy (and okay, war), which is something that y'all are exhibiting right now. I know gay people who have better morals than you fucking politicians and since when is it okay for Comelec to suddenly become a moral arbiter huh? Separation of church and state anyone? It seems to be a foreign concept here in the Philippines. And it's not even an issue of the separation of church and state. Stupid Comelec people are so blinded by fucking heterosexual superiority complex. Being straight does not immediately turn you into a beacon of goodness and moral wort, just as being homosexual does not necessarily mean promiscuity and loose morals and scandal and hellfire.
I hate the Philippines so fucking much right now. T__T
5. Heartbeat by 2PM - I like it but it's not brilliant. Perhaps the best way to describe it would be 'bitin,' which is a Filipino word one would use to describe a cliffhanger (PS, I am amused at how much irrelevant Filipino knowledge I am inadvertently shoving down your throats XD) There's no climax in the song. I was listening to it and it ended and I was like, "Wait. THAT'S IT??" But like I said, I like it, and I like their choreography as well, even if it is a little strange. Then again, 2PM as a group is a little strange, so it suits them quite nicely.
I've mentioned this before but I also like the fact that with Jay's absence, the members seem to be stepping up to try and fill the hole that he's left behind. It's hard to replace Jay vocally, especially since his voice is really quite unique, but I can see that Junho and Woo Young are really trying, especially when Woo Young was "ad-libbing" beside Junsu in the second chorus (well, as much of an ad-lib as you can get in K-pop anyway). Anyway, I think the album was good. Not stellar, but good enough. Considering the circumstances, it could have gone a lot worse. Or maybe not, infernez, JYP is good at his job. Of course, I would have appreciated it more if there were more new songs instead of remixes of previous singles (though I do quite like Only You acoustic), but for a first album, it wasn't that bad.
